Precognitive Dreaming is a form of extra-sensory perception in which the user may see flashes or visions of entire scenes from the future and sometimes past, but only through dreams. This person does not have visions while they are awake, but their every dream is not a precognitive one, although this ability could be activated at will through Lucid Dreaming.
Known Evolved Humans Edit
- Angela Petrelli naturally possessed this ability.
- Peter Petrelli duplicate possessed this ability.
- Arthur Petrelli stole this ability.
Even though a precognitive dreamer must be asleep, or unconscious to actually utilize their abilities if they are able to recall their dreams they can be able to manipulate future events to their own needs based on the situation.
In order to see and dream the future, this ability requires the user to be unconscious. It is not known, however, if the user can activate this ability at will: the only known examples of Angela using this ability is a dream she had while riding in a taxi and in her office, while Peter has unknowingly accessed this ability several times.
There appear to be slight differences between the dream and the actual events. Whether this is related to inexperience, the dream not being entirely literal, the future being changed, how far in the future the event takes place, or simply a natural consequence of the power is unknown.
The amount of detail users of this ability are able to retain after waking up is unknown, albeit both Angela and Peter seem to remember their dreams.
Peter once used this ability to witness a past conversation between his mother and Charles Deveaux, although Charles was somehow aware of him and spoke to him in the dream.
Angela recently demonstrated the ability to appear in the dreams of other people. She was able to communicate with Gabriel Gray while he was being kept sedated in Level 5 and help him wake up and escape, despite being paralyzed in a hospital bed herself. This incident indicates that there may be more to her ability than simply dreaming about future events.
